Welcome to Business

What is AMA?

'In 1953, Neil Borden transformed the business world when he articulated the strategy of “Marketing Mix” in his AMA presidential address. Borden was just one of many AMA leaders who were not satisfied with existing best practices. These thought leaders sought answers for the future that would propel business growth and elevate the role of marketing.

Today, the AMA leads an unparalleled discussion on marketing excellence. Continuing in the tradition of Borden and so many others, the AMA offers differentiated content that focuses on the tension between Best Versus Next Practices™.

With content coming from unrivaled scholarly journals, like the Journal of Marketing, and award-winning publications, like Marketing News, the AMA offers a robust perspective that understands marketer are expected to provide both solutions for today and solutions for tomorrow.

No other organization provides more ways for marketers and academics to connect with the people and resources they need to be successful"

What is HAMA?

What is HAMA?

As Hofstra University's chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA), HAMA focuses on fostering a healthy environment to best prepare our members for the business environment by participating in nation-wide competitions, conferences, philanthropy events, and career/networking events.

HAMA meets biweekly on Monday nights at 8 p.m. in Breslin. Check our social media accounts for updates about meetings. E-mail us if you would like to be added to our e-mailing list to automatically receive updates. (Links to social media accounts and e-mail below.)

Still Want More?

We are excited to announce that this year we have established three seperate committees in order to give our members a more hands-on experience.  These committees meet on the opposite week of the biweekly HAMA meetings in the HAMA office. (If a HAMA meeting is on the first week of the month, committee meetings will be on the second week of the month). While involvement on a committee is optional, it is required that you take your position as part of the committee seriously if you decide to join. However, there is a lot to gain from getting involved more with HAMA and joining a committee.

Benefits of joining a committee include...

  • Getting to know other HAMA members on a more personal level

  • Receive priority for funding from Hofstra University and our fundraising for our annual trip to New Orleans

  • Learn new skills that can be put on your resume

  • Have an outlet to express your ideas and oppinions

  • Meet our guest speakers before any other members

  • Gain the leadership skills necessary to becoming an executive board member

  • and more!

To join a committee, reach out to us via e-mail below or speak to an executive board member at the next HAMA meeting

Arts & Communication

See behind the scenes in how HAMA operates. Take part in designing our weekly e-mails and learn how to create flyers using programs like Adobe Illustrator. Work with other HAMA members to create new and innovative ways to get Hofstra University informed about what HAMA is doing. If you are good with social media, this is your place to shine. Help HAMA by taking photos at our events, utilizing your personal social media accounts to create a buzz about HAMA, or even creating your own content for the official HAMA social media accounts.

AMA and New Orleans

The American Marketing Association holds several contests throughout the year including everything from Case Competition to our Chapter and Anual Reports. It is up to this committee to take on the challenge of entering these competitions and representing HAMA. This includes the preparations involved with attending the annual AMA conference and competition held in New Orleans each year.
